A delegation of Italian textile machinery manufacturers will also be present at Expotextil. Within the pavilion organized by Italian Trade Agency and ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, 14 Italian companies will exhibit, including the following 11 ACIMIT members: Color Service, Danti, Dettin, Ms Printing Solutions, Ferraro, Flainox, Ima, Salvadè, Santoni, Ugolini, Willy.

In Peru the textile and clothing industry is one of the driving sectors of the national economy. The Country is the world’s leading producer of alpaca fibers (over 80% of global production of this fiber is produced in Peru). Cotton cultivation and processing are also significant, particularly in the northern part of the Country. In 2023, Peru exported textile and clothing products worth a total of $1.87 billion, marking a 19.6% increase compared to the previous year.

“In a context of a needed technological renewal for Peruvian textiles,” said Marco Salvadè, president of ACIMIT, “the Italian attendance at Expotextil is strategic. The local textile industry needs to renew its machinery and raise the quality of its processes to stay competitive. Italian technology offers Peruvian companies suitable solutions for more efficient and resource-saving production.”

Over the years, the Peruvian textile industry has already benefited from partnerships with Italian textile machinery manufacturers. Peru is the second-largest market in South America for Italian manufacturers. In 2023, Italian textile machinery exports to Peru reached a value of around 18 million euros. In the first six months of 2024, Italian sales amounted to approximately 8 million euros.

ACIMIT: The Italian Textile Machinery Industry In China To Exhibit At ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2024/10/acimit-the-italian-textile-machinery-industry-in-china-to-exhibit-at-itma-asia-citme-2024/ Tue, 15 Oct 2024 14:59:27 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=99351 MILAN  — October 15, 2024 — About 50 Italian companies will exhibit at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024, taking place from October 14 to 18 in Shanghai. With an area of around 1,400 square meters, Italy ranks among the top exhibiting Countries, as in previous editions. 29 Italian exhibitors will show their innovations within the National Sector Groups, organized by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Italian Trade Agency.

ITMA ASIA + CITME show has always been the main showcase for textile machinery manufacturers in Asia, that absorbs more than 50 percent of global exports. Moreover China is the world’s largest market in the sector (the value of imported textile machinery in 2023 was around 2.6 billion euros).

For Italian manufacturers as well, the Chinese market is the top foreign destination. In 2023, Italian sales to China amounted to 222 million euros. In the first six months of this year, exports to China increased by 38 percent, while the performance of total Italian exports declined slightly in the same period.

“We hope that the recovery of the Chinese market, observed in this first half of the year, may be an early indication of a more general upturn in global demand for machinery,” said ACIMIT President Marco Salvadè.

Over the past few years, demand from Chinese companies has turned to technologies that combine savings in production costs and environmental friendliness, as also demanded by brands and end consumers.

“Today, Italian manufacturers can offer highly customized solutions that are particularly suited to making textile production more sustainable,” Salvadè confirmed. “The Chinese textile machinery market is rapidly evolving, and the level of innovation in the technology requested has risen due to the growing international competition that even Chinese companies face. ACIMIT: Italian Textile Machinery Industry Ready For New Challenges Launched By The Green Transition https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2024/07/acimit-italian-textile-machinery-industry-ready-for-new-challenges-launched-by-the-green-transition/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 16:34:39 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=96770 MILAN — July 10, 2024 — Maintaining a focus on innovation despite the uncertainties that characterize the current international scenario was emphasized during the General Assembly of ACIMIT, the Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association, held in Milan on July 9. ACIMIT president, Marco Salvadè, showcased the data of the Italian textile machinery industry. In 2023, production decreased by 16 percent, settling at a value of 2.3 billion euros, as did exports, which also fell by 16 percent (2 billion euros).

China, Turkey, India, and the United States remain the main destinations for Italian textile machinery manufacturers. In 2023, demand for machinery in these markets was weak, but some positive signals emerged in the first quarter of the current year, especially from the Chinese market and again from Egypt, Pakistan, Brazil, and Japan. “2024 will still be a year characterized by many uncertainties, mainly due to the uncertainty of the geopolitical situation and fluctuations in final demand,” Salvadè noted.

In an especially difficult international scenario and with a still sluggish market, the Italian textile machinery sector remains a leader alongside a few other Countries, such as China, Germany, and Japan. “Our sector is renowned worldwide for its reliability, know-how, and the uniquely Italian ability to combine tradition and innovation,” noted the ACIMIT president. Accelerating innovation remains crucial, particularly to meet the challenges that await Italian manufacturers in supporting textile companies on their sustainable transition journey.

To highlight the opportunities that the European green transition opens up for technology suppliers, the public section of the ACIMIT General Assembly addressed a very current issue: textile recycling. The EU’s legislative guidelines aim to accelerate the green and circular transition of the textile sector with various actions: from ecodesign to EPR, from waste export regulation to green claims. Meanwhile, there is a growing demand for recycled textile fibers driven by the sustainable policies of brands that should not be underestimated.

Thus, technologies play an important role in providing solutions to companies engaged in the new circularity supply chain: from sorting and selection of garments to preparation phases and recycling processes. During the event several speakers agreed that the experience and capabilities of the Italian textile and textile machinery sector should be fully leveraged at this crucial stage for the entire supply chain. As President Salvadè noted, “Textile machinery companies intend to increase R&D activities in this area, collaborating with their textile customers in the belief that the circular transformation of business models also represents an opportunity for technology suppliers to increase their competitiveness.”

ACIMIT: Italian Textile Machinery Orders Remain Stationary For First Quarter 2024 https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2024/05/acimit-italian-textile-machinery-orders-remain-stationary-for-first-quarter-2024/ Mon, 06 May 2024 16:21:20 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=95336 MILAN — May 6, 2024 — For Italian textile machinery sector, 2024 has begun without anything seemingly special. The first quarter has seen the orders index, as reported by the Economics Department of ACIMIT — the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers — remain stationary compared to the same period the previous year. In absolute terms, the index came in at 61.2 points (basis: 2021=100).

This result is due to entirely different trends between the domestic and foreign markets. On the home front, orders were up 15 percent compared to the first three months of 2023, whereas orders abroad fell by 4 percent. The absolute value of the index on foreign markets came in at 59.4 points, in comparison to a 73.9 points in Italy. In both cases, new orders remained well below the numbers recorded for 2021, considered as a base year. During the first quarter, order backlog reached 4 months of assured production.

ACIMIT president Marco Salvadè thus commented the data: “The orders intake for the period from January to March 2024 confirms an overall sense of caution on foreign markets in planning new investments. The global geo-political framework remains complex, and these uncertainties are reflected in the buying decisions of many textile manufacturers. Therefore, our primary markets, which include China, Turkey and India, have failed to record any clear signs of growth in demand.”

On the contrary, domestic orders appear to be slightly on the rise. “Following a sharp decline in 2023, new orders from the beginning of the current year have recovered partially,” stated ACIMIT’s president. “However, I don’t believe conditions are yet right for a clear inversion of this trend. Here in Italy as well, many investments remain on hold, awaiting the implementation of Transition 5.0 plan. Subsequently, we’ll be in a position see whether the domestic market will react positively to the adoption of these new measures.”

ACIMIT: The Italian Textile Machinery Industry 2023 Fourth Quarter Orders Remain Stationary https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2024/02/acimit-the-italian-textile-machinery-industry-2023-fourth-quarter-orders-remain-stationary/ Mon, 19 Feb 2024 17:10:03 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=93184 MILAN, Italy — February 19, 2024 — In the fourth quarter of 2023 Italian textile machinery orders index, drawn up by the Economics Department of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, appears to be stationary compared to data recorded for the same period in 2022. In terms of absolute value, the index stood at 82.4 points (basis: 2015=100).

This is the result of an upswing in orders from foreign markets, counterbalanced by declining orders on the domestic front. While orders in Italy decreased at 18 percent rate, a 4 percent increase was observed abroad. The absolute value of the index on foreign markets amounted to 77.9 points, whereas it came in at 126.2 points domestically. Overall for the fourth quarter, the average order backlog yielded 3.7 months of assured production.

For the whole 2023 year, the index declined 25 percent overall compared to the 2022 average (absolute index of 82.4). On the home front however, the index dropped 24 percent (absolute index of 124.5), while slipping 25 percent abroad (absolute index of 78.4).

ACIMIT president Marco Salvadè commented the data: “The orders index for October-December 2023, as elaborated by our Economics Department, confirms an intake of orders that is still weak, with a negative trend in demand for machinery that is ongoing for the domestic market.” Nonetheless, the orders index abroad shows a slight increase.

“We estimate that the global geopolitical context is still a source of concern,” continued Salvadè, specifying that, “For the first nine months of 2023, Italian exports on major global markets (i.e. China, Turkey, India and the United States of America), confirm a widespread decline. However, some positive signs emerged in the fourth quarter of last year, as reflected by the latest orders index. For 2024 we expect a consolidation of this trend reversal.”

MILAN, Italy — July 5, 2023 — A changing of the guard at the top of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers. Indeed, at the association’s General Assembly held on July 4, 2023, Marco Salvadè was appointed to replace Alessandro Zucchi as president of ACIMIT.

Born in Como in 1967, Salvadè is married with two children. He began his career at Salvadè S.r.l., a family-owned company specializing in finishing machinery founded by his father and uncle in 1967. After being a member of the company’s board of directors, he has been president since 2021.

Salvadè has long been active in the life of the association. Since 2018 he has been a member of ACIMIT’s General Council, and since March 2023 he has been part of the Italian delegation at CEMATEX, the Committee of European Textile Machinery Associations.

Following the election of Salvadè, the General Assembly expressed its gratitude to the outgoing president Zucchi who has guided the association for the past six years.

Along with the new president, the General Assembly also elected its new Vice Presidents, Chiara Bonino (Bonino Carding Machines S.r.l.), Federico Businaro (Sperotto Rimar S.r.l.), Ugo Ghilardi (Itema S.p.A.) and Cristian Locatelli (Marzoli Machines Textile S.r.l.).

Salvadè’s first comments as newly appointed ACIMIT president: “I wish to thank the Assembly for the trust they have placed in me, and I want to express my gratitude to the former President Alessandro Zucchi for everything he has done during the last six years to strengthen the role of the association and of Italian industry on the international scene. With the new vice-presidents and the ACIMIT Board, I will continue the work that has been done in recent years by previous presidents. It will certainly not be a simple task, but one that will no doubt prove stimulating. My primary goal is to increase the sense of belonging to ACIMIT of its member companies, with which we share the same values, and to adjust the association’s strategies to changing conditions in the economic and geopolitical context.”
